UAE Visa for Turkish Citizens: Options, Documents, Cost and Processing Time

Every week we are asked the same question by travellers from Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir: do I need a visa for Dubai, and how do I get it? The honest answer is that the rules have moved several times in recent years, and the safest approach is to treat the visa as part of your booking rather than an afterthought. This guide explains the routes that work in practice, what to prepare, and where people go wrong.

Check the current rule first

UAE entry policy for Turkish nationals is set by the UAE government and can change with little notice. Before booking non-refundable flights, confirm the current requirement with the UAE embassy, your airline's visa page, or with us. What follows describes the mechanisms that have been available to Turkish passport holders; eligibility for each depends on the policy in force on your travel date.

Route 1: Tourist e-visa through your airline

Emirates, flydubai and Turkish Airlines partners offer visa services to passengers holding a confirmed ticket. You apply online after booking, upload a passport scan and a photo, pay the fee and usually receive the visa by email within 2–4 working days. Fees vary by airline and visa type but generally fall between USD 90 and USD 180 for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa, with 60-day and multiple-entry options available at higher cost.

Route 2: Through a licensed UAE agency or hotel

Licensed Dubai tour operators and many hotels can sponsor tourist visas for their guests. This is the route DXB.IST uses for every package client: you send us a passport scan (valid for at least six months beyond arrival), a passport-style photo and your flight details; we submit the application and the visa arrives by email, typically within 48 hours. The visa is electronic — no stamp, no sticker; immigration reads it from your passport number.

Route 3: Visa on arrival

In periods when the UAE has included Türkiye in its visa-on-arrival scheme, ordinary Turkish passport holders have been able to obtain a 30-day visa at Dubai International on landing, free or for a small fee. Holders of Turkish diplomatic, service and special passports have long enjoyed visa-free entry. Because this facility has been introduced and adjusted over time, confirm it applies on your date before relying on it.

Documents you will need

• Passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, with at least two blank pages.
• A colour scan of the passport data page (clear, uncropped, no glare).
• A recent passport-style photo with a plain background.
• Confirmed return or onward flight ticket.
• Hotel booking or proof of accommodation (a package confirmation is sufficient).
• For minors: a copy of the birth certificate and, if travelling with one parent, a consent letter from the other.

Cost and validity

Fees are indicative and include typical service charges; government fees are non-refundable if an application is refused.

Common mistakes we see

• Applying with a passport that expires in less than six months — the application will be rejected.
• Using a photo cropped from a holiday picture; the system needs a proper biometric photo.
• Booking a Friday flight and applying on Thursday: allow at least four working days.
• Overstaying: fines are charged per day; leave on or before the date shown on the visa.
• Assuming a Schengen or US visa gives special access — it does not for Turkish citizens.

Ramadan, Eid and public holidays

Government processing slows during Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha and can pause for several days. If you travel around these dates, apply two weeks ahead.
