Overview
Sultanahmet holds more history per square metre than almost anywhere on earth, and it's also where a bad guide and a long queue can ruin a day. We fix both. Your guide is a licensed historian; all tickets are pre-booked; and we start at 8:30 am, before the cruise-ship crowds.
Hagia Sophia first, while the light pours through the dome. Then the Blue Mosque and its 20,000 İznik tiles (timed around prayer). Topkapı Palace follows — the Imperial Council, the treasury with the Spoonmaker's Diamond, the Sacred Relics rooms (important for Muslim guests — we explain the etiquette), and the Harem. After an Ottoman-style lunch at a family restaurant, we descend into the Basilica Cistern's 336 columns and finish at the Hippodrome. Arabic-speaking historian guides available; modest dress guidance sent before the tour.
